Sitecore 10 – SitecoreGallery failing to register and install SIF

Just started installing Sitecore 10 and on 1st step, got an error that SIF installation which is not allowing me to register the SitecoreGallery:

So how to install this SIF version to start Sitecore 10 installation for local machine?

First thing, what’s the issue? – As it says, its not allowing me to register “SitecoreGallery” to install SIF 2.3.0 .

Note: I have Sitecore 9.3 installed on my machine which works on SIF 2.2 and that may hitting this issue…. not sure.

To fix that, follow the below steps:

Step 1:
Open the file “PSRepositories.xml” parked at “C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\PowerShell\PowerShellGet\PSRepositories.xml”

Step 2:
Search for “SitecoreGallery” in the xml file and delete complete “<En>” node from the xml. It is possible that the file “PSRepositories.xml” is corrupted and so loading it may through an error.

Step 3:
Execute below command to register “SitecoreGallery” with source location. This should work now.

Register-PSRepository -Name SitecoreGallery -SourceLocation https://sitecore.myget.org/F/sc-powershell/api/v2

Step 4:
Now execute below command to install SIF.

Install-Module SitecoreInstallFramework

If you face any issue like below screen, pass “-Force” keyword with the above command.

Step 5:
After the above steps, execute below step to check if SIF 2.3.0 is installed or not.

Get-Module SitecoreInstallFramework –ListAvailable

Also you will get the 2.3.0 folder as well in WindowsPowershell folder

Now all set, you can start installing Sitecore.
Hope this will help you!!

Happy Sitecoring!!
